Covid 19 - AAB's Year in Review
The 23rd or March marked a whole year since the team at AAB began to work from home due to Covid-19, looking back to March 2020, we reflect on the leaps we have taken and systems we have developed to keep ourselves safe, efficient, and true to our ethos of continuous development.
Whilst our smaller team of office staff have returned to the office, our external Sales and Project Managers are still working from home and are now desperate to get back to visiting your sites and doing what they do best – to specify the perfect bricks and specials to make your project vision a reality. Due to our external sales staff working from home and our internal team back in the office, we have adapted to the times with the use of video conferencing, collaborative remote working and keeping open lines of communication throughout the company to ensuring the sample, specify, order and supply stages of the business are carried out in a streamlined and effective manner with each member of staff playing an integral part in the process.
On a software front, our internal systems and processes have developed extensively in the past year, with the welcome additions of schedule management systems, a bespoke haulier liaising interface and an updated remote working system, AAB has transformed to fit in the new world during and post Covid-19.
It’s no secret that the construction industry was dealt a huge blow by the pandemic, between unclear guidance and the health and safety of all employees in the supply chain being of the utmost importance, project build schedules and groundbreaking sites was halted and prompted developers, contractors, architects and builders to reflect on the future of their sites once it was safe to do so. The team at AAB recognized the trend and concerns of our clients and worked tirelessly to produce an updated product range of clay facing bricks, slips and specials. Specifically tailored to all market requirements. The main addition to our range being our newly formed manufacturing partnership with Spanish brick manufacturer, Mora Ceramics, who arrive to the UK market with a stunning inventory of Glazed and wirecut bricks in unique detail colours as well as boasting the smoothest brick in Europe! Needless to say the entire team at AAB are excited to be seeing these outstanding bricks create one of a kind facades throughout all building sectors.
In addition to our range of high-quality bricks and slips, we also worked on our systems and processes at our Brick Hub facility, noticing the trend of projects completed with specialty cut bricks and the need for a greater supply of specials to the market we are proud to confirm it is full speed ahead at the brick cutting and refacing site located in Bedfordshire! With an updated water management system, we ensure to keep our saws running to provide you with unlimited possibilities for your project aesthetic, from non-90 degree corner angled bricks to plinth work, our team at the Brick Hub are experts in what they do with over 30 years in the brick cutting and special production industry!
In conclusion, the past year has been monumentally tough for us all, we have lost friends, family and colleagues and will never forget the impact that Covid-19 has had on the entire world, whilst AAB have developed and adapted to the current times, our values and ethos remains the same as it has been for the past 20 years. Moving forward we will strive to further develop and grow as a business to ensure the industry is supplied with a market leading range of high quality bricks, slips and cut to order specials.
